Packing, final preparations

Each field trip normally begins a month or two prior to actually getting to the field site. Field supplies need to be replenished which includes ordering the necessary supplies and having them delivered to our Brownsville laboratory with enough time to pack them prior to our departure for Nepal. Packing these field supplies, in combination with your personal items can bring out the best in one’s organization skills and at times, thinking outside the box – or in this case thinking inside the white plastic jar. Also, don’t ever let anyone tell you playing Tetris or doing jig-saw puzzles will get you nowhere. As you see in the photos, the specific skill set(s) learnt from these recreational activities is essential when it comes to packing for field work!
Packing begins...

Suitcase #1: Almost there...
Suitcase #2: Starting to take shape...

Suitcase #1: Looks good to me.
Suitcase #2: I think that will do!
